They knew better and were warned to not take the children out of the country. At the very least, the leader knew.

From my personal experience of being a devout Christian at one point in my life; we are taught to feel first then think. These Baptist felt for those poor children and wanted to help, but ended up persecuted for their lack of knowledge on bylaws.

I understand wanting to help and provide a life for these children, but it must be done according to the rule of law.

I'm sure there are people taking advantage of the situation in Haiti. However I believe these missionaries were just ignorant to the fact they needed to go through the proper procedures, in order to "help".
